I started making a family tree at Genes Reunited just over an hour ago, and I may have already found out some cool information! This is awesome!
It seems that my great-great-great grandfather was born on a ship off of the Cape of Good Hope. Which is really cool, because I've been wanting to know for ages when my family came to Australia.
I'm gonna contact some people and see if I can come up with some more info. Whoo!
EDIT: Grrb! That sucks! I can't send messages to other people on there unless I pay for a mebership. Oh well. At least I've found somethng out!

My aunt called me a goth tonight. Which is yet more proof of how completely clueless my family are. :P She said it was because of my black hair, and I was wearing my black trench coat, but what sort of goth wears green corduroy pants?
Hello internet, I'm back! Sorta. I was a bit down at the start of the week, I think because I had too much fun on Sunday at the NiH party, and I used up all my happy chemicals or something. And I've been working a lot more than usual this week, mostly because it's Mother's Day tomorrow, and everyone waits until the last minute to buy gifts. :? So I've been quite buggered, and it hasn't helped that my parents are away, so I have to come home to an empty house (well, Bailey's here, but she doesn't talk back to me). Sorry I was so grumpy the other day, Sam!
Anyway, I'm feeling better today, because I had a bit of a sleep-in today, and I had some social interaction (yay for crazy cousins!). My uncle told me to listen to Ricky Gervais' radio show, and I told him about the Boosh and Jasper Fforde. And then we fan-girled over Life On Mars! Also, no work tomorrow! And I spent this morning looking through the super-cool photos I took on Thursday night.
Sam and I saw Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet For My Valentine, Atreyu and Behind Crimson Eyes! It was so good. I luffs metal! (or whatever this stuff is called, I'm not much good at genres) A7X played Linoleum! Woo, pop-punk covers! I filmed it, so I guess Sam will upload it Sunday night. Thebbie staff aren't camera nazis like Ent. Centre people, so we got lots of pics and vids. And Sam found treasure! Thebbie Treasure!
I'm in love with Atreyu now, and I'm trying to think of other bands that are named after characters in childrens' books. The only other one I can think of is Veruca Salt (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Help, anyone?
Anyway, this is the place where I normally post photos.... Luckily, it's still the first half of the month, so the uploading doesn't take as long.
Now I'm off to look at Sam's pics (assuming she's posted them already, which is fairly likely! :P )

.... So said my great-nana yesterday on her 100th birthday. We're having a party for her tomorrow, with the WHOLE family coming, which means heaps of distant relatives that I've never even met.
She got her letter from the Queen, and also ones from just about every other politician, etc. There was: the governor-general, the governor, prime minister, federal opposition leader, state premier, state opposition leader and a couple of local pollies too. Now, am I just cynical, or are they all looking for votes? I mean, it is kinda cool getting letters from all these people, and yes, I do know that it's a big milestone, but it did seem a bit like:
"Look, I sent mine in the biggest envelope!" (Well done, Mr Rudd!)
"But mine is on fancy paper!" (Thank you Johnny and Janette.)
"Well, I signed mine myself, and I underlined key words like 'congratulate' and 'inspiration' to prove it!" (Mike Rann: It would have looked a lot nicer if you hadn't. Why don't you just circle the relevant words next time?)
And Martin Hamilton-Smith: We don't need a list of all of your duties, Mr Shadow-Minister-for-everything. Isn't there anyone else in your party?
But the Queen's card was really nice, and so was the one from the Governor-General. They even had pictures in them!
I don't mean to be rude or sarcastic or anything, I know it's a great achievement. We always knew that she'd get to 100. But reading all these letters is just so damn funny!
